Theory, Training + Video analysis
Fun fact: learning to surf doesn’t only take place in the water ;) When joining the camp we offer daily theory and training sessions to improve your surfing skills. In addition to this, we have two dedicated in-house photographers capturing you in the water with a drone and a regular camera for video analysis.
Theory classes
Tailored to your specific level, we’ll be offering theory classes throughout the week. We’ll be covering different topics such as for instance safety, how to paddle, how to take off, duck dive & turtle roll, forehand turn & backhand turn, cross step, surf etiquette, angling the take off, tips to transition from beginner to intermediate, speed generation, surfing in a crowd, how to catch unbroken waves, how to position yourself to catch more waves, wave selection, wave forecast and how to read the waves, paddle techniques, board types & selection and more topics.. There’s also space for any individual questions you may have.
Training sessions
Surfing may look easy, it does require some physical strength to paddle, balance and finally catch the wave! Training sessions are focused on learning and practicing certain skills ‘on the land’ instead of in the water. In these sessions we’ll focus on improving your paddling, take off, turtle roll, position on the board, balance and so on. And fun surfing exercises to improve your skills.
Video analysis
Video analysis is a perfect way to evaluate your strengths and challenges since it highlights the areas that you need to focus on to see improvements. Together with our instructors and accompanied by other guests you will review and analyze the videos frame by frame and adjust where necessary. Sometimes it’s just a very small detail but when modified, leads to a significant improvement in your surfing skills.
Perfect combination to improve
The mix of video analysis, practical tips + feedback and our daily training + theory classes have proven to be the best cocktail for improving your surfing skills, both for beginner and intermediate surfers. Extra bonus: at the end of the week, the videos are available to you freely. This is not only nice footage to share with friends on Instagram it also gives you the opportunity to evaluate your surfing over the years.
